Age Calculator

Age is calculated from your date of birth to today in complete years, months, and remaining days. Partial months are calculated by counting actual days in each month, not a fixed 30-day approximation.

In India, 18 years is the age of majority under the Indian Majority Act, 1875. You can vote at 18, get a driving licence at 18 (motorcycle) or 20 (car with gear), and drink in most states at 21-25 depending on state laws.

There is no minimum age for a PAN card in India — minors can have PAN cards applied for by parents/guardians. For Aadhaar, the biometric update is mandatory at age 15.

Central government employees retire at 60. State government varies by state (58-62 years). Defence: 54-57 depending on rank. Private sector has no mandated age — it is defined by employer policy.

For income tax, age is as of the last day of the financial year (31 March). So for FY 2026-27, if you turn 60 on or before 31 March 2027, you get senior citizen tax slabs for the full year.

NPS account matures at age 60. If you joined after 65, you can exit after 3 years. For premature exit before 60, at least 40% of the corpus must go into annuity.

Age calculators account for leap years (366 days) and regular years (365 days). A person born on Feb 29 in a leap year celebrates their birthday on March 1 in non-leap years in most legal contexts.
